MARIE Marie, who was born and raised to the sound of country music in New Zealand, has a passion for great country songs. Having raised 7 children (Yes seven!!) Marie started her singing career somewhat later in life than most vocalists. Since 1996 Marie has performed consistently in both concert and competition, winning Star Step at the 1997 Berri Country Music Festival. Marie released her debut cd “Just About Now” in 2002 in memory of her son Jono who sadly passed away from cystic fibrosis. Also in that year she was guest supporting artist for Daniel O'Donnell and Foster & Allen at the Adelaide Festival Theatre. In 2005 Marie decided to form her own band Deep River which enabled her to reach a wider audience and to explore a broad selection of classic and contemporary country music. Marie has the ability to caress ballads with sensitivity and style, yet has the power to deliver country rock with gusto. |
